A method of turning non-circular piston-rings comprises clamping the rings side-by-side and simultaneously machining their external and internal peripheries in a lathe controlled by a template, a part of each ring being subsequently cut away to form a gap so that the ring may be compressed into circular shape. Specifications 776,471, 784,293 and 784,294 are referred to.
