Abstract

788,788. Wheels. CLIFFORD, E., and LIEBRECHT, H. F. Aug. 11, 1955 [Aug. 20, 1954], No. 24280/54. Class 79(1) A self-laying track for vehicle wheels has track sections 2 of channel form enclosing a longitudinal flange 6 provided on each side with an axially aligned set of projections constituting a double rack the wheel being formed with an annular groove bounded by two sets of teeth to engage the double rack. In Fig. 1, the track sections 2 embrace the wheel 1 whose teeth 3, formed as a double row, engage projections 12 on each side of a longitudinal flange 6, Fig. 4. The edge of the wheel 1 engages a hard wearing strip 9 screwed to the flange 6. The track sections are pivoted together by pins 15 which each carry two pulleys 16 which support cables 17 to prevent the track leaving the wheel. The teeth'3 may be attached to the wheel 1a by screws 11. Specification 553,905 is referred to.
