Abstract
788,778. Sink &c. strainers. BEL, L. K. VAN DER. June 15, 1956 [June 18, 1955], No. 18599/56. Class 26. A device for preventing stoppage of the waste pipe of a sink, wash-basin or the like comprises, as shown in Fig. 1, a stem 1 and a filter consisting of a generally annular part 3 with outward projections, and ribs 6 extending from the part 3 and converging towards the lower end of the stem 1, at least the filter being made of a plastic or similar resilient material. In use the device rests, as shown in Fig. 2, on cross-bars 4 in the waste pipe 5, and the stem 1 which serves as a handle for removal may also be resilient to allow insertion of stopper 9. Other forms are described and illustrated, in which the part 3 and ribs 6 form an erect or inverted basket, with the stem 1 attached to the middle of its base ; the stem 1 may then be a rigid and detachable part.
