Abstract
787,491. Mixing fluids in flow. DARI-GOROUND, Inc. Dec. 30, 1955, No. 37522/55. Class 86 A flavour mixing valve for manufacturing ice cream, milk shake and the like comprises a casing 10 having an inlet 14 for the introduction of a frozen food base and an inlet 19 for the introduction of a flavour fluid, an open ended cylinder 35 rotatably mounted within the casing 10 and having inlets 37, 38 adapted to co-operate with the inlets 14, 19 in the casing and a stirrer 52 for intermixing the frozen food base and flavour fluid in a central space 36 prior to the mixed product being discharged through the open end of the cylinder 35. The co-operating surface of the cylinder 35 and casing 10 are conical and are kept in fluid-tight engagement by a spring 45 located in a cap 12 which is secured to the casing 10. The cylinder 35 is rotated within the casing 10 by means of a handle 40 attached to an upper extension 41 of the cylinder 35. A motor 48 which drives the stirrer 52 is mounted on the extension 41. A flavour selector valve 20 is attached to the flavour inlet 19 whereby the inlet may be selectively connected to tubes 21, 23 each of which leads to a container containing flavour syrup under pressure. The valve 20 is operated by a handle 27.
