Abstract

786,279. Weighing apparatus. AVERY, Ltd., W. & T. Dec. 20, 1955 [Dec. 20, 1954], No. 36688/54. Class 143 A wire stay 1 for maintaining a pan of a weighing scale horizontal, is prevented from collapsing when the stay is subjected to excessive compressive or bending stresses by the provision of a sheath or strut loosely about or adjacent the stay. The sheath 3, Fig. 2, loosely surrounds the stay and abuts against members 2 in the event of a compressive force being applied to the stay. In Fig. 4 a strut 4 loosely engages the wire near its anchored ends. The strut 6a shown in Fig. 5 co-operates with a protrusion 5a formed on a leg 5 carrying the stay. Fig 6 shows a pair of co-operating struts 7. 8.
