Abstract

<PICT:0785322/III/1> In a single reactor 1 which comprises a number of fluidized beds 2, 3 and 4 the transfer lines 8 and 11 pass out of the reactor stages from the upper bed to the lower bed in such a manner that they can easily be cleaned from outside the reactor. Aluminium fluoride is produced from dry aluminium hydroxide and pure hydrogen fluoride or a mixture of dry air and hydrogen fluoride. Reaction takes place mainly in the second bed and is completed in the lower bed while dehydration occurs mainly in the upper bed and is completed at the second stage.
