An integrator for determining the mean value of a signal voltage derived from an electric measuring apparatus comprising a condenser in parallel with a voltmeter which are fed with the signals through a rectifier, is provided with facilities for adjusting the ratio of charge to discharge time T 1 , T 2 for the condenser so that when T 1 = T 2 the voltmeter accurate indicates the mean value of the signal voltage, and when T 1 = T 2 the voltmeter accurately indicates the average of the larger deviations only. For obtaining equality in the time constants the condenser 4 (Fig. 2) is fed with the rectified signal from measuring apparatus 1 via two cathode follower valves 6, 7 connected in pushpull. In a modification the valves are used to square the rectified voltage, so that the meter 5 indicates the mean square value. For obtaining a desired value of T 2 greater than T 1 the rectifier 2 is located between the condenser 4 and the valves 12, 13 (Fig. 4), a variable resistance 14 being added in the cathode circuit, so that voltmeter 5 indicates the average of the widely variable signals only. In a modification the rectifier 2 is replaced by a half-wave rectifier so that the average of only the larger positively (or negatively) varying signals are measured.
