An angler's spinner comprises a body furnished with a cam-shaped open slot 6 housing a hook 7 in a concealed position and a chamber 4 containing means to which the hook is secured and which withdraws the hook from the body when the angler strikes, the cam-slot 6 acting to project the hook outwardly. The spinner shown has two cam slots 6 for two hooks. The slots extend through the length of the body and are contoured at their rear ends to house snugly the outwardly facing hooks. The hooks are coupled by flexible wire 8 to a washer 10 slidably mounted on a pin 11 and pressed upwardly by an adjustable lighthelical spring 18 to abut a frame 15 detachably held in the chamber 4 by a pair of pivoted dogs 16, Fig. 2, engaged with recesses 5 in the chamber. The upper end of the pin 11 is fixed to a member 14 of rectangular cross-section adapted to slide in the frame 15 and to cooperate with the free ends of the dogs 16 to hold the dogs in the recesses. The line is attached to the upper end of the pin 11 and when the angler strikes the pin moves upwardly so that the rectangular member 14 clears the ends of the dogs 16 and the spring 18 is compressed until a sleeve 19 surrounding the lower end of the spring engages the washer 10. Further upward movement of the pin causes the dogs to pivot out of the recesses 16 and the frame to move out of the chamber 4. Simultaneously, the hooks move upwardly and outwardly relative to the body. The ends 21 of vanes 20 mounted on the body overlap the upper ends of the slots 6 to engage the hooks and prevent the body from becoming detached from the hook assembly. The Provisional Specification describes a spinner having two hooks disposed in camshaped slots in the body and connected both by wire loops and by weak twine to a nose detachably secured to the body. When the angler strikes the twine breaks and the hooks move forwardly and outwardly. The body has a chamber for housing weights, which may be detachably secured to the nose.
