Abstract

779,784. Bags. CIRCLE PRODUCTS, Ltd., and TURNER, P. R. May 26, 1955 [Feb. 26, 1954], No. 5709/54. Class 133. [Also in Group XIV] A bag of flexible material is stiffened by a hinged frame structure 12, 13, 14 which can be folded within the bag to allow the bag to be collapsed and which when extended within the bag causes a tension in the material, urging the frame open so as to prevent inadvertent collapse. As shown applied to a handbag adapted to be arranged across the handles of a perambulator, the fabric of the top of the bag is stretched over and secured to a rectangular top frame 12 to the ends of which are hinged two end frames 13, 14 adapted to be pushed downwardly and outwardly until their lower ends engage the upturned edges of a fibre bond or cardboard base inserted in the bag. The frames are of stiff wire, the top frame 12 being in two parts joined by sleeves 16 after being pressed through loops on the end frames. The top frame is secured within the bag by tabs and studs which also secure a loose lining. Handles 21 pass through eyeletted holes in the top of the bag and are riveted to straps passing under the bag, so that the handles can be pushed partly into the bag to lie flat on the top.
