A wire or strip crate has part of the base dimensioned to fit in the mouth of a similar crate, the boundary wire 3 of the base being bent up at each corner at 5 to provide spaced supports. Portions 7 may be bent inwardly and downwardly relative to the crate sides producing elements 6, 8 which rest upon the rim of a crate below.
