Abstract

778,488. Loading coil cases. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. Jan. 18, 1956, No. 1699/56. Class 38 (2). A loading coil case comprising a loading coil chamber 1 and a jointing chamber 3 has the two chambers interconnected by a gland 4 having three outlets, one outlet 7 of which is in the loading coil chamber 1 the other two 5, 6 being in the jointing chamber 3, the conductors connected to the loading coils passing through the gland 4 and terminating in protective sleeves 8, 9 in the jointing chamber 3. After the jointing has been done the jointing chamber may be filled with compound. The loading coil chamber may also be filled with compound by means of a removable plate 17 at the top of the gland 4. If the cables in which the loading coils are to be connected are gas filled and the gas is required to circulate through the gland the gland is not filled with compound. Alternatively the gland may be filled with compound to create a gas barrier if desired. Specification 607,393 is referred to.
