Abstract

777,917. Percussive tools. ATLAS COPCO AKTIEBOLAG, [formerly AKTIEBOLAG ATLAS DIESEL]. April 13, 1955 [April 15, 1954], No. 10629/55. Class 124 [Also in Group XXII] An anchor bolting equipment comprises a percussive tool, a chuck rotatable in the front head, means for rotating the chuck in a clockwise direction looking from the backhead and a detachable wrench member having a socket to engage a nut or a bolt head at one end and-a shank to fit the chuck at the other, the length of the shank being such that it cannot be struck by the hammer piston. As shown, a pneumatic percussion tool has a hammer piston shank 11 provided with axial and inclined grooves 12 and 13 respectively co-operating with ribs on a sleeve 15 and ribs on a turning mechanism 17, the latter being arranged so that a chuck 21 rotates in a clockwise direction looking from the backhead. A drill steel may be inserted in the chuck for drilling holes in which anchor bolts may be inserted. The steel may then be replaced by a tool for driving the anchor bolt into position and then by a wrench member 35 having a shank with a bore 39 to accommodate the flushing tube 29 of the tool and a bore 37 to accommodate the end of the bolt. The end of the shank does not extend beyond the inner end of the chuck and is not struck by the hammer shank 11; it is given a rotary motion by the turning mechanism. The chuck may be formed at its external end as a socket to engage a nut or bolt head, thus avoiding the necessity of a separate wrench member The backhead may be provided with a pneumatically operated telescopic feed device. Specification 710.558 is referred to.
