A brooder comprises a canopy formed of triangular sheets 10 of transparent thermoplastic material, the shape of the canopy being maintained by means of stays 17 threaded through horizontal pockets in the sheets 10 and joined together by tubular connecting pieces 19. Suitable heating means, such as an infra-red lamp, is inserted into the brooder via the hole 11 and ventilation holes 20 are provided, the device being suspended by the strap 13 so that its base is just clear of the ground.
