Abstract

776,950. Packaging liquids; portable containers. MARELLE, R. Dec. 13, 1954, No. 35952/54. Classes 66 and 94(1). A container for liquids, suitable for being dropped to the ground from aircraft without bursting, comprises two sheets a of flexible material joined together along a line c defining a central pocket d containing the liquid and also along lines e so that the joins constitute yieldable barriers which can yield successively when the container hits the ground. The joins may be each constituted by bellows secured to the two sheets, or the sheets may be directly joined ; the sheets may be of a permeable material provided on their inner faces or on both faces with an impermeable film. The outer parts of the container act as stabilizers during fall so that the container is maintained horizontal. If desired the container may itself be contained in a second container to further minimise the risk of loss of the liquid by bursting.
