Abstract

775,876. Making tassels. TOOGOOD & JONES, Ltd., and GIBBON, E. R. April 28, 1955 [Jan. 28, 1954], No. 2645/54. Class 141. [Also in Groups VIII, IX, XV and XIX] Tassels or balls are made by winding wool loosely around a section 11, 12 or 13 of a former 10, tying around the threads which bridge a slot 14 (or 26) therein and severing them at one or both edges of the former which, for this purpose, comprises two spaced plates or is grooved at 25. A row of holes 18 in the former acts as a knitting needle gauge. The material forming the two spaced plates is bent at 15, Fig. 1, to receive a pencil, scriber or peg 16 which may be engaged with one of a number of holes 19 to indicate the number of rows of a pattern which have been knitted. Where a single grooved plate is employed, Fig. 4, a slide 30 movable along the slot 26 may be provided for the same purpose. One or both faces of the former may be roughened for writing upon.
