Abstract
775,650. Soldering. SVENSKA AKTIEBOLAGET GASACCUMULATOR. Jan. 5, 1955 [May 22, 1954], No. 312/55. Class 83 (4). A clamp or like fitting 1, Fig. 1, has a part 2 which is adapted to be attached to a metal base or support (not shown) provided with fusible metal 4 rigidly fixed to the fitting. The metal 4 has a melting-point lower than that of the fitting or the base and may be silver solder, copper solder or welding bronze. It may be attached to the fitting by soldering, welding or pasting, or as shown in Fig. 4, it may be in the form of a container 9 filled with flux and pressed over a cylindrical projection on the fitting 7. The flux, which may be a chloride, fluoride or borate of an alkaline metal, may alternatively be held by cavities in the fusible metal or applied as a coating. In Fig. 7, the fusible metal 14 is attached to a part 13 by riveting, while in Figs. 16 and 17, it is applied as a plate or strip 38 with its ends bent over the central portion of a clamp 37 adapted to be incorporated in a cast mass or body. Fig. 15 shows a clamp having two parts 35 with pointed ends so that they may be inserted into an aperture or slot of a plate or the like which is then secured by bending the parts 35 to the positions shown in broken lines. Other forms of fitting are described including fittings of resilient metal for detachably holding an object such as a tool.
