Abstract
774,090. Removing metal by spark discharge. CENTRE NATIONAL DE LA RECHERCHE SCIENTIFIQUE. Nov. 20, 1953 [Nov. 21, 1952], No. 32318/53. Class 83 (4). Apparatus for spark erosion comprises terminals for connection to a voltage source connected through an impedance to two circuits in parallel, the first comprising a tool electrode and the workpiece and the second being a delay line having only its input terminals connected to the first circuit. Current is supplied from terminals 1, 2 through a variable inductance 3 in series with a valve or solid contact rectifier 4 to the workpiece 18 and electrode 17 in parallel with an open circuit delay line comprising condensers 12-16 and inductances 8-11. The workpiece and electrode are preferably immersed in water, mineral oil or kerosene. The characteristic impedance of the delay is made to approximate that of the discharge path.
