773,769. Reinforced concrete. SPATZ, F. and SPATZ, W. Dec. 7, 1955 [Dec. 8, 1954. Sept. 14, 1955], No. 35050/55. Class 20(4) A spacer for steel inserts in reinforced concrete consists of a highly elastic disc 1, made e.g. of sheet steel which can be hardened, and having a central hole 3 whose diameter corresponds approximately to the outer diameter of the round steel serving as reinforcement. The disc has radial corrugations 4 whose amplitudes progressively decrease from a maximum at the centre, to a minimum at the periphery of the disc. A slot 2 is preferably provided to facilitate attachment to a reinforcing rod. In a modification, Fig. 3, the disc, intended for double-rod type of armourings has a sectorshaped cut out 7, 8 to accommodate one rod 10, the other rod 9 being received in the hole 3 in the disc. The disc can be made by bending a strip of steel into an annular shape and simultaneously corrugating it by means of profiled .rollers, or the like.
