[Also in Group XIV] In forming a mattress from foamed cellular material, e.g. foam rubber, polyvinylchloride foam or polyurethane foam, the mattress having a central depression 4 in its upper surface and the material 1a beneath the depression being denser than the rest of the mattress, the foam is placed in a mould and allowed to gel with a level surface, a shaping tool is applied to the surface to form the depression and to increase locally the density, and the curing of the mix is completed with the tool in situ.
