771,398. Spring stop mechanism. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP HOLLANDSE SIGNAALAPPARATEN. March 24, 1955. No. 8601/55. Class 108(3). [Also in Group XXXIV] A stop mechanism mechanically prevents the continued rotation of a shaft 7 which, after starting from a definite initial position, has made a pre-determined number of revolutions. The shaft 7 is mechanically coupled through a spiral spring 5 to a bush 8 which is itself coupled through pin 11 to an arm 12 secured to a gear wheel 18, so that when rotation of the wheel 18 is not resisted, it may be regarded as rotatable in synchronism with the shaft 7. The gear wheel 18 is in constant mesh with a wheel 1 having a slightly different number of teeth, for instance 61, as compared to 60 for wheel 18, so that two toothshaped cams 3, 3A after a predetermined number of revolutions move across the path of a tooth-shaped tilting lever 15, mounted to rotate on wheel 18, and deflect the member 15 by flexing the spring 6, so that the shaft 17 tilts a lever 16, one or the other of the pins at its extremities thus being moved into engagement with the curved indentation 22A of resilient stops 14 or 14A. The stop thus resiliently arrests the shaft 7 first by tension in spring 13 and later by contraction of the coil spring 5.
