In a pneumatic tyre cover 10 having at least two bead wire bundles 13, 14 in each bead and at least two inner carcase plies 11, 12 of rubberized wire fabric, the said inner plies 11, 12 are folded around the inner bead wire bundles 13 to extend upwardly between the two wire bundles, and on each side of the tyre at least one wire fabric flipper strip 18, 19 is folded around one of the bead wire bundles 13, 14 to extend upwardly within the sidewalls 16 of the tyre, the ends of the plies and the flippers being staggered to provide for decreasing thickness from the beads up the tyre sidewalls. As shown, fillets 17, 20 of rubber stock surmount the bead wire bundles 13, 14 respectively to fill the space thereabove between the folds of the fabric plies or strips, there being two flipper strips 18, 19 around the outer bead wire bundles 14. In alternative arrangements one or two rubberized wire fabric flipper strips may be wrapped around the inner bead wire bundles 13 within the folds of the inner plies and additional outer carcase plies of wire fabric may be folded around the outer bead wire bundles 14, with or without a flipper strip, in place of the two flipper strips 18, 19. For a heavy duty tyre, an intermediate bead wire bundle wrapped in a wire fabric flipper strip may be incorporated in each bead between the inner and outer bead wire bundles.
