In a modification of the repeating device set out in claims 3 to 8 of the parent Specification, wherein means are provided for continuously recording signals from a reel of tape to a loop of tape and for continuously reproducing the signals on the loop, switch means control erasing means for the loop after reproduction and are operative to stop, simultaneously, the reel of tape and the erasing from the loop, whereby signals on the loop are repeatedly reproduced until said switch means are operated to re-start the reel of tape, and the erasing means restored to permit further recording from the reel tape on to the loop and reproduction therefrom. In the embodiment described, a reel machine A transmits its signal via its amplifier 2 to recording head R of a loop machine B. A switch 81 coupled to the stop-start mechanism of the reel machine A controls an oscillator 3 for the supply of erase and bias current to erase head E and recording head R, respectively. The signal on the loop is thus continuously reproduced by reproducing head P2 and erased by erasing head E. When machine A is stopped, oscillator 3 becomes disconnected leaving the length of the loop between recording head P2 and erasing head E still with its recording thereon, which is repeatedly reproduced by reproducing head P2.
