770,567. Laminated safety glass. PITTSBURGH PLATE GLASS CO. Dec. 15, 1954, No. 36290/54. Addition to 757,875. Drawings to Specification. Class 140. Bent laminated glass is made by uniting to a plastic interlayer, e.g. polyvinyl butyral, a pair of glass sheets that have been bent from the flat as a unit of two superposed sheets while heated, the inner face of one sheet having been sprayed before the bending step with a liquid suspension of a finely divided parting material such as 1000-3000 mesh mica, finelydivided silica, or diatomaceous earth, which will unite optically with the plastic material. The spraying conditions are such that the suspending liquid, e.g. water, evaporates and a substantially dry deposit results. Any residual water and excess parting material, is removed by a current of air before assembling the glass sheets and plastic interlayer.
