Class 25 A chimney for a lime kiln for protecting men working around the mouth of the kiln comprises a portable cylindrical or polygonal base section composed of rings 1, 2 of angle section welded or bolted to pillars 3 of T-section,- the spaces between the pillars preferably being closed by removable doors or panels 4, and a portable superposed frusto-conical section formed of rings 5, 6 of angle section secured to pillars 7, the spaces between which are permanently closed by panels 8. The kiln may be charged and the draught therethrough controlled by removal of one or more of the doors 4. Additional sections may be added to the superposed section. The doors and panels may be made of galvanized sheet-iron.
