Abstract
769,201. Anglers' floats. ARCHER, P. W. March 1, 1955 [Dec. 1, 1953], No. 33346/53. Class 48. An elongated fishing float adapted to ride lengthwise on the water and having means for attachment of the line 5 and a cast 6 is shaped at the end to which the cast is attached to provide a frontal area 10 opposing movement in the water due to the pull of a fish. The end of the float to which the cast is attached is concave. An eyelet 4 for attachment of the cast 6 is located either on the top of the float or slightly below the water level. The line is attached to an eyelet 3 at the other end of the float or to an eyelet 8 between the two end eyelets 3, 4. The line or cast may be attached to the float body by passing it through eyes on the body and clamping it to the body by an elastic band. A weight 2 is inserted in the float body intermediate its ends. The float is made of cork and has a truncated conical shape. In a modification the truncated conical body has ribs on its conical surface: In another embodiment a keel which may be adjustable is secured to the float body and a weight may be secured to the keel. In still another embodiment the float body is tubular, the ends are sealed by plugs, and a weighted transparent keel is secured to the body.
