Abstract
767,643. Seats for motor vehicles. FIAT SOC. PER AZIONI. March 1, 1955 [April 30, 1954], No. 6061/55. Class 103(2). In a rear-engined motor vehicle comprising a front seat or row of seats 3, Fig. 1a, and two rows of rear seats 4, 5, the lower portion of the back-rest 9 of the row of seats 4 and the rear portion of the seats proper of the row of seats 5, when the seats are tilted forwardly, are disposed adjacent each other, as shown in Fig. 1b below the normal seating position of seats of row 4. The seat portion 6 of one of the row of seats 4 is provided with straps 7 hinged about pins 8 secured to the car body, so that the seat 6 may be tilted to take up a vertical position which will prevent forward displacement of the load if the car is suddenly braked. The back rest 9 has projections 11 adapted to engage pins 13 on the car body to hold the. back rest in the normal driving position. The seating portion 14 of the seats in the back row is pivotally connected to swinging members 16 hinged about pins 17 secured to the car body whereby the seating portion 14 may be tilted so that the bottom of the seat is in line with the bottom of the seat 9.
