Abstract

Organo-silicon compounds which are: (1) resinous siloxane polymers; (2) liquid siloxane polymers; or (3) disilanes, silmethylenes, silethylenes, silphenylenes, polymeric silanes and polymeric silmethylenes are dispersed in a compressed and liquefied chlorofluoromethane or chlorofluoroethane or mixtures thereof and contained in a closed container equipped with a release valve from which they may be dispensed as a finely divided spray. Specified halogenated hydrocarbons are those having the formulae CHaClbFc and C2Cl6F6-d, where a is 0 or 1, b is 1, 2 or 3, c is 1 or 2 and d is 2 or 3. The organo-silicon compound may be dispersed in another organic solvent which is then dispersed in the halogenated hydrocarbon. In examples: (1) trimethylsiloxy end-blocked phenylmethylpolysiloxane was dispersed in a mixture of CCl3F and CCl2F2 in a closed container to give a 30 per cent dispersion. The container was used to lubricate by spraying the locks of car doors and trunks. (2) As in (1) but using trimethylsiloxy and blocked dimethylpolysiloxane which was used as a mould release agent. (3) As in (1) but using trimethylsiloxy end-blocked methylhydrogenpolysiloxane which was used to render textiles water-repellent by spraying and heating to 100 DEG C. (4) A mixture of 40 per cent of a resin derived from 55 mol. per cent C6H5CH3SiCl2, 15 mol. per cent C6H5 SiCl3, and 30 mol. per cent CH3SiCl3 and 60 mol. per cent of a resin from equimolar proportions of (CH3)2SiCl2, CH3SiCl3 and C6H5SiCl3 together with a small proportion of cobalt naphthenate was made into a 40 per cent solution in toluene and the solution made into a 15 per cent solids dispersion in the fluorocarbon mixture of Example (1). The dispersion was used for spraying bread pans, the coating being cured at 400 DEG F. for an hour. (5) A mixture of 33 parts of a co-polymer of (CH3)3SiO 1/2 and SiO2 units of CH3/Si ratio 1.2, 50 parts trimethylsiloxy end-blocked dimethylpolysiloxane fluid and 17 per cent tetrabutyltitanate was made into a 60 per cent solution in Stoddard solvent and dispersed in equal parts of CCl2F2 and CClF2CClF2 to give a 10 per cent polysiloxane dispersion. The dispersion was used to render leather water-repellent. (6) A partially alkoxylated mixture of by-product chlorosilicon compounds described in Specification 714,461 was mixed in the proportion of 67 parts with 33 parts of the copolymer of Example (5), dispersed in the fluorocarbon mixture of Example (1) and used to waterproof masonry.
