764,579. Table games. BIGGS, G. S., and BIGGS, B. Feb. 17, 1955, No. 4735/55. Class 132(2). Table game apparatus simulating football, ice-hockey, &c. consists of a ball or puck projected over a surface A by figures P slidable in slots A<SP>1</SP>, A2 extending longitudinally of the surface and rotatable about a vertical axis. The figures are carried on the ends of cranks G<SP>1</SP> the vertical limb G of which is journalled in a bracket D mounted on an operating rod B supported in apertures A<SP>6</SP> in a boundary wall A<SP>3</SP>. The lengths of the cranks vary according to the playing position of the figure. Rotation of rod B rotates the crank G<SP>1</SP> through crown gear E and gear F or through a gear and gear quadrant. Springs K<SP>1</SP>, K2 restore the rods B to their original position. Slots A<SP>1</SP> for attacking players are longer than those A<SP>2</SP> for defensive players to give them a greater range of action but the cranks G<SP>1</SP> for the former are shorter than for the latter. The base P<SP>3</SP> of each figure is bevelled to loft the ball. Peripheral ribs A<SP>4</SP> reduce the tendency of the ball to leave the field of play and further ribs such as A<SP>5</SP> direct the ball into the range of a figure. The ball may include a magnet so that it tends to adhere to the figures. The goalkeeper figures are each mounted on a spring loaded plunger and can be both swung about a vertical axis to cover the goal mouth and rotated about a central horizontal axis to simulate " diving " for the ball. The figures may be detachable from the cranks. The figures of both sides may be so connected in an electric circuit that, if one figure contacts an opposing figure, the " foul " is indicated by a bell.
