763,730. Multi-ply paper bags. HOLSCHER, F., and WINDMOLLER, A. [trading as WINDMOLLER & HOLSCHER]. July 15, 1953 [Dec. 22, 1952], No. 19623/53. Class 94(2). In a paper multi-ply block-bottom valve bag. the layers of the side flaps 20, 21, with the exception of a single outer layer on one side flap at each end of the bag, have inwardly folded corners due to the absence of incisions or notches, all the layers of the corner flaps are stepped to the same depth as the layers of the adjacent side flaps, and the single outer layer which is the last to be turned over is provided with incisions for the formation of a rectangular cover flap 24, 25, 26, 27. The bag is made from paper, &c. tubes having the ends 3, 4 of the innermost and outermost plies 5, 7 stepped around the circumference, the steps of the outermost ply coinciding with the cut-away portions of the innermost ply, and longitudinal incisions 8 .. 11 are made in the outermost ply forming the side flaps 20, 21 with folded corners and the single outermost rectangular cover flap 24 .. 27 turned over about line 22-23 to complete the closure. The middle ply is not stepped. Fig. 2 shows the first endfolding operation to form the corner flaps 12 .. 15, the flaps 13, 14 having an outer stepping and the flaps 12, 15 an inner stepping. The filling opening is arranged on one of the corners with the inside stepping. The side flaps 16, 17 are folded along lines 18-19 and finally the side flaps 20, 21 and rectangular cover flaps 24 .. 27 folded along the lines 22-23 and glued.
