762,077. Local copying by scanning. CHAMBON, Ltd. July 31, 1952 [July 31, 1951], No. 19424/52. Class 40 (3). Apparatus for producing simultaneously a number of reduced size copies of an original comprises a drum 2 carrying the original and driven by gears 5, 6 at a speed greater, e.g. 6 to 1, than that of the receiving drum 3 rotated by gearing 7, 8. Also, the linear speed of the scanning device 15 traversed by a screw 12 driven from gearing 9, 10, 11 bears the same ratio to that of the engraving device 20 advanced by a screw 13 whose speed is determined by gears linked to the gear-wheel 11. A number of engravers 20 may be mounted on the screw 13 so that in the arrangement shown, thirty engraved copies are made from one scanning of the original on the drum 2.
