Abstract
759,155. Extrusion machines. PETRIE & McNAUGHT. Ltd., and WALSH, J. July 2, 1954 [July 2, 1953], No. 18339/53. Class 87(2) Plastic materials, e.g. paint pigments, are formed into strands for drying on a perforated conveyer belt by feeding the plastic material to a hopper 2, having a worm 9 therein for dispersing the material evenly to two pump rotors 3, 4, with teeth 5 on one engaging with grooves 6 on the other, which feed it through a perforated dieplate 7 on to the perforated conveyer 1. An oscillating knife may be used to cut the extruded material into short lengths or the rotors 3, 4 may be driven intermittently, as by a ratchet and pawl drive, to produce short strands by intermittent extrusion.
