Class 38(5) In a liquid-filled circuit-breaker wherein the arc is drawn out across lateral vents 10 in an arc control chamber 5, the fixed contact 2 is secured to a cross-piece 3 detachably secured to a support 4 about which the chamber 5 can pivot. An internally screw-threaded extension 11 of the chamber surrounds the support and engages a screw-threaded sleeve 12 held captive between a sleeve 13 fixed to the support and the cross-piece 3. Thus when the contacts are separated, the chamber 5 can be raised by rotating the sleeve 12 until it is clear of contact 2 whereupon it can be swung aside for inspection.
