Abstract

758,853. Waveguides. COMPAGNIE GENERALE DE TELEGRAPHIE SANS FIL. Feb. 23 1954 [Feb. 23, 1953], No. 5352/54. Class 40 (8). [Also in Group XL (a)] The ratio of light to phase velocity of a delay line 3 in a linear accelerator (see Group XL (a)) is changed stepwise or progressively down the accelerator. The line consists of a conductor carrying circular vanes 9. The radius of the conductor and the spacing between the vanes are increased away from the beam source 6. Standing wave, or forward or backward spatial harmonic operation, may be used.
