Abstract

Moulding compositions comprising cut lengths of filaments, strands or strings impregnated with synthetic resins are prepared by a process wherein a plurality of individual filaments, strands or strings is, while continuously running parallel at a distance from one another, loaded with thermoplastic or hardenable synthetic resins and then cut to a required staple length, if necessary after having been dried. The filaments &c. may be loaded with resin by being passed through a resin solution, by the use of applicator cylinders, or by spraying with resin solution or solid pulverulent resin. The resin employed is preferably a hardenable phenolformaldehyde resin. Specification 477,222, [Group IV], is referred to.
