To select a sheet holder carrying a ruled screen, mask or other sheet from a magazine of such holders and position it at the image area between lens and light-sensitive material and return the holder to the magazine, with the latter located beneath the camera to avoid the use of floor space involved when such a magazine is placed beside the camera; the magazine 1 rigidly secured beneath the camera contains holders, of which only one is shown, having a rectangular metal frame 2 with central aperture 3 for the sheet, laterally extending lugs 4 and claws 5 at the corners of the frame 2, which lugs 4 are carried by shoes 4a slidable on guide rails 6. Slidably mounted on top of the magazine is a carrier frame 8 with opening 9 in the image area 7 of the camera, the sides of the carrier frame 8 8 having guide rails 11 alignable with the several rails 6 of the magazine. on sliding the frame 8, as with rack 18 and pinion 15 driven by an external hand wheel with indicating features for location to a desired one of the rails 6..A pair of chains 25 carried by the frame 8 are provided with claws 24 which move under the claws 5 of the row of holder frames 2 in the rails 6 on sliding the frame 8; and on driving the chains 25 by a further chain and hand wheel (not shown) operating on the shaft 27 and aided by counterweights 28, the holder frame 2 from the selected rails 6 is raised into the image cone and then located to the image plane as desired by further sliding of the frame 8. Interlocking slot mechanism (not shown) prevents raising of the claws 24 of the chains 25 when such claws are not correctly engaged with the claws 5 of a holder and ensures return of the holder to its proper one of the rails 6 in the magazine 1.
