Class 88(1) [Also in Group XV] In Fig. 1, a toy animal has a musical box 3 fixed to a plate 9 by screws 10, and a winding shaft 4 projects into a leg 2 of the animal where a winder 5 having a lever 6 is screwed on to the shaft 4; an elongated plate 7 secures the leg 2 firmly to the win.- der. The mechanism of the musical box is wound by rotating the leg 2 clockwise, and upon release of the leg, causes the animal to be animated by the engagement of the rotating leg with the surface on which the animal is horizontally laid. In Fig. 2, when the musical box mechanism unwinds, the head 12 of a toy animal is rotated by a winding key 11, the engagement of the head with a supporting surface as the head rotates causing the toy to rock. Two or more limbs of the toy animal may be simultaneously actuated by the mechanism.
