Abstract
755,214. Scaffolding. BRENNTAGBRENNSTOFF - CHEMIKALIEN - UND TRANSPORT-GES. June 22, 1953, No. 17218/53. Class 20(2). Relates to a scaffold platform mounted on an extensible lazytongs structure raised by a cable 12 fixed to an uppermost joint 121 of the lazy-tongs and passing in zig-zag manner over the outer pivots of the lazytongs to a winding drum 11. The initial movement of the structure from collapsed position is produced by the initial movement of the cable which passes over two girders 16, 17 and -between which it passes under the central pivot 14<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 3, of the lowest lazy-tong element. Telescopic struts 24 secured between the outer pivots of the structure and which can be locked in different positions of extension secure the structure at any desired height. A rope ladder 26 on a spring drum 25 gives access to the platform 8. The rope 12 may be arranged round sheaves on the lazy-tongs pivots and be conducted back to another sheave on a previous pivot before passing to a succeeding pivot in order to obtain a mechanical advantage.
