Abstract

753,993. Supporting cables. ESSANDEM WORKS & McPHERSON, Ltd., and HAYES, E. F. Feb. 14, 1955 [Feb. 17, 1954], No. 4602/54. Class 36. A cable supporting device comprises a collar 5 embraced by a wire loop 8, a channel-section member 10 having sides 15 of decreasing height and secured to the free ends of loop 8, and a second channel-section member 16 telescopically engaging the member 10 and clamping by wedging action a cable 22 laid between the bases of said members 10, 16. The ends of the loop 8 are passed beneath bridges 13 formed in the base of member 10, the bridges being pressed down to secure said ends. The base of member 16 is formed with transverse ribs 21 which grip the cable 22 as the member 16 is pushed along the member 10, any pull on the cable 22 tending to tighten the clamping effect. The collar 5 loosely surrounds a pillar 4 secured to the wall W of a building, so that the device is capable of swinging in a horizontal plane.
