Abstract
The invention comprises trichloromethyl-p-acetylaminobenzene thiosulphonate, fungicidal compositions containing the compound and a method of preparing it by the action of perchloromethylmercaptan on p-acetylaminosulphinic acid sodium salt. In an example, p-acetylamino-benzene sulphochloride, prepared by the action of chlorsulphonic acid on acetanilide is reduced to the sodium sulphinate with sodium sulphite, and this is treated with perchlorimethyl mercaptan to give the trichloromethylthiosulphonate. This may be made up into fungicidal preparations with miscible oils containing ketones and emulsifying agents, ketones and propellants, spray powders, &c.ALSO:The invention comprises trichlormethyl-p-acetylaminobenzene thiosulphonate (see Group IV(b)) and fungicidal compositions containing the same. Compositions may be made up with miscible oils containing emulsifying agents and ketones, ketone solvents and propellants for aerosols e.g. methyl ethyl ketone and cyclohexanone, fatty alcohol sulphonates as flowing agents and dispersing agents and/or carriers e.g. Kaolin, clay, pipe clay, and colloidal silicic acid for spray powders, infusorial earth and dolomite marl for lycodium powders, stickers such as spindle tree oil for seed-protecting agents, and as "coated-dust."
