To improve the yield from seed potatoes, a portion of each potato is removed, e.g. with a cork borer, and fertilizer is inserted in the resulting hole which is then plugged, e.g. with the removed portion. From 1/2 to 6 grammes of fertilizer may be used in each potato. The fertilizer may be in powder or pellet form and may contain: 9 per cent of nitrogen, 9 per cent of K2O, 11 per cent of insoluble P2O5 and 1 per cent of soluble P2O5.
