Abstract
745,797. Gramophone records. SIEMENS & HALSKE ATK.-GES. June 23, 1954 [June 27, 1953], No. 18347/54. Class 40(2) In a gramophone record disc 1 of the type having disposed within sound recording grooves, e.g., microgrooves 2 to be engaged by a stylus (not shown) and a central portion 6 which is provided with a small central hole 8 and is removable by fracture to leave a large central hole 4 whereby depending upon whether or not the centre portion is removed the disc may be played on a record player having either a large or a small diameter driving spindle, the points of fracture of the central portion are located radially outside the edge of the large central hole 4. This provides that any irregularity or material left at the fracture point is unlikely to extend within the larger hole 4 to interfere with the fitting of the disc on the large diameter spindle. As shown, the fracture points 9 are formed between radial arms 7 of the central portion: 6 and triangular cut-out portions 5 projecting outwardly from the hole 4. The disc may be of a synthetic resin and be played at 45 r.p.m.
