Class 146(2) [Also in Grcup V] A relief model comprises a shaped moulding of thin thermoplastic material of approximately uniform thickness with a flat flange 1 surrounding the map 2 and connected thereto by a step 3, both flange and step being integral with the moulding. Preferably, the material is transparent, and the model may then be placed over a corresponding contour map and markings made if required. Contour lines, &c., may be printed or marked on the model. The model may be formed by vacuum moulding by mounting the mould in a recess in a flat surface, placing the sheet of plastic material over the recess in an airtight manner by clamping round the edges, heating the sheet to the required temperature, and connecting a source of vacuum to perfora.- tions in the mould, so that external air pressure shapes the sheet to the mould. The sheet may be previously marked with distorted markings which given the required marking when the sheet is moulded, or the markings may be imparted by grooves or ridges in the mould.
