[Also in Groups XV and XVIII] A sorting and designating device for sorted greeting cards or like articles of stationery displayed in laterally elongated racks in a substantially upright position so as to be wholly or partly visible, comprises a divider member arranged to extend in a substantially vertical plane transversely of the rack and movable therealong and a supporting member secured to and arranged to support the divider member in position on the rack, either the divider member or its supporting member including a surface displaying or receiving means for displaying a designating symbol, whereby such device serves to segregate the articles in the rack and to facilitate control and replenishment thereof. As shown in Fig. 1, the device comprises a supporting base-plate 10 having integral lugs 11, 12 to secure thereto a divider member 13 comprising an inverted U-shaped strip of spring steel having its free limb 14 bent under at 15, the base-plate 10 resting against the back of the rack 19 and the steel strip 14 pressing against the glass front piece 20 to hold the device in position. A pip 16 in lug 11 engages a hole in the secured limb 14a as additional securing means. Tongues 17, each side of the divider member 13, are struck up from the base-plate 10 to hold a card or tab 18 bearing a figure such as " 6 " or " 7 " which may relate to a place of storage for reserve stock of the section of the rack so marked. As shown in Fig. 5, the divider member comprises a plate 36 integral with a base-plate 37 which lies against the rear wall and is formed with a bent-back hook 39 adapted to clip over the upper edge of rear glass panel 35 which forms the front panel of the next rack. Inturned lugs 38 carry a tab 34. In a modification (Fig. 2, not shown), a triangular-shaped divider plate is formed with an integral forward projection of inverted U-shape to clip over the upper edge of panel 20, the symbol being engraved on the divider plate. The constructions having the designating symbol against the rear of the rack are arranged in this manner in order that the symbol shall be covered when articles are in the display position and uncovered only when replenishment is needed.
