Abstract

740,208. Respirators. SOC. D'EXPLOITATION DES PLASTIQUES. Feb. 5, 1954 [Feb. 7, 1953], No. 3487/54. Class 81(2). A respiratory mask comprises a pouch made of elastic porous synthetic plastic filtering material, the edge of the pouch being bent over itself to form a thickened rim. The bent-over portion is secured along its major portion but is left unsecured in the region of the junction of the wearer's nose and cheeks. The pouch is made from a sheet of microporous elastic synthetic plastic material which is folded along a line A and stitched or stuck along a line B. The edge of the mask is turned in to form a bead 3 which is stitched or stuck except for unsecured portions 3a which, when the mask is worn, fit into the hollows between the nose and cheek.
