Abstract
740,084. Foundry plant; moulding-machines. BUDERUS'SCHE EISENWERKE. June 30, 1952 [June 30, 1951], No. 16467/52. Class 83 (1). [Also in Group XXX] In foundry plant for transporting poured moulding-boxes from a conveyer to an emptying station and then to the moulding-machines, the boxes are moved along a track by the direct or indirect action of one or more automaticallyactuated devices distributed along the track and feeding the boxes. That part of the conveyer for the poured moulding boxes shown in Fig. 1 comprises two parallel portions. Poured boxes are removed from the longitudinal run shown at the right-hand side and pass along a track 21 through a discharging station and then on to another portion of the track at rightangles to the first and positioned above the other longitudinal run of the conveyer. From the end of the second track the boxes are lifted to moulding-machines disposed between the two runs of the conveyer as indicated at 3. As each moulding-box 2 on a plate 1 of the conveyer comes opposite the end of the track 21, it moves a roller 9 on a lever 10 depending from a shaft 8 carrying cams 11, 12, controlling the supply of compressed-air to a cylinder 4, so causing a depending arm 6 to push the box off the plate 1 and on to the track 21. In order to obtain a sufficiently long range of movement of the arm 6 it is coupled with the piston-rod 5 of the cylinder 4 by gearing comprising racks 27, 28, Fig. 4, engaging pinions 24, 26 in a housing 23 and coupled by a central gear 25. After the rod 5 has completed part of its stroke, the end 29 of rack 27 abuts a stop 30, whereupon the housing 23 travels along the rack 27 and causes the rack 28, carrying the arm 6, to move relatively to the housing. A similar action occurs on the return movement of the rod 5, which is initiated when a moving member contacts a stop 31 (not shown). The track 21 comprises side-plates 20 and rollers 22, the first six of which are carried by a frame 34 vibrated from a motor 35 to shake out the sand and castings on to an inclined grid beneath, which grid is also vibrated. The boxes are pushed along the track by the following boxes and when a box contacts roller 44, a pusher arm 47 coupled to the piston-rod of a second compressed-air cylinder 40 is actuated to move it at right angles along rollers 41 of the second limb of the track, at the end of which the boxes are removed to the moulding- machines by compressed air-driven lifting devices 49. If the rate of supply of moulding boxes to the second track exceeds the rate of removal to the moulding-machines, or if for any other reason the pusher arm 47 meets undue resistance, a roller 51 carried by the pusher is rocked to rotate a shaft 53 to operate a switch 58 which stops the drive of the conveyer and consequently of the transfer cylinders 4, 40.
