Abstract
739,671. Artificial bait. MEULNART, A., and M.E.P.P.S. MANUFACTURE D'ENGINES DE PRECISION POUR PECHES SPORTIVES. March 25, 1954 [May 12, 1953; Aug. 10, 1953]. No. 8815/54. Class 48. A spinner of the kind having a vane (not shown) rotating when drawn through the water has its stabilizing sinker 3 formed as a helical coil 6 of wire mounted on a shank 2 attachable at one end to the line, the other end being formed as a V-shaped spring 8, 9 with an eye-shaped base 11 for attaching the hook device 4 and the end portion 10 of one leg engaging in the internal helical groove of the sinker coil as an internal screw-thread to secure the eye-shaped base 11 closed. The forward end portion of the sinker reduces in diameter towards the end providing a hole 7 for the shank 2. Alternatively the sinker may have an axially bored head with a cylindrical portion forced into the inside of the coil. The other end of the sinker is preferably formed with a gap 6c between the end turn 6b and the adjacent turn to facilitate engagement of the end 10 of the spring leg 9 with the helical groove. The leg 9 may be formed with projecting portions 10a, Fig. 5, each engaging in the helical groove. The member 5 holds the vane away from the shank 2 in its non-operative position. The shank and eye of the hook device 4 and the eye 11 of the V-shape spring may be housed in a flexible sleeve with the sinker moved over it to limit the play of the hook device.
