Abstract

738,374. Locking nuts. PHILIDAS, Ltd., and KING, J. L. July 7, 1952 [June 29, 1951], No. 15443/51. Class 89(1). A self-locking or stiff-nut has a reduced extension 3 in which are a number of slots 4, 5 in each of two planes, those in one plane being staggered around the axis of the nut relatively to those in the other plane. The remaining webs 6, 7 are preferably 90 degrees apart and the slots are partially closed by axial compression before use of the nut. Specification 561,286 is referred to.
