Abstract

738,074. Endless conveyers. TELEFLEX PRODUCTS, Ltd. Nov. 26, 1952 [Dec. 11, 1951], No. 29009/51. Class 78 (1). An endless conveyer of the kind having spaced carriers with platforms upon which the goods to be conveyed are loaded, the platform being automatically tiltable for the delivery of the goods is provided with preselection means comprising a selector in each carrier having settable cams to co-operate with followers and parts controlled thereby at the delivery stations to effect tilting of the platform at any pre-selected delivery station. As shown, each selector comprises a pair of rectilinear rods 14, 15, each having a square shaped sleeve 44 bearing an integral flat plate cam 47 and engageable in a series of V-shaped notches to hold it in the various numbered portions in which it can be set. The station followers 61 are lugs formed integrally on similarly notched and figured square section bars 56, 57 which are mounted for rotation in upper and lower brackets 54, 55 and bear at their lower ends, which project below the brackets 55, station bar cams 58 to which are connected tension-springs 59 to keep the cams 58 normally in an inoperative position. As a carrier passes the station, for delivery at which its cams 47 are set, these cams contact the appropriately-placed follower lugs 61 and thereby turn the bars 56, 57 through approximately 90 degrees, thus setting the station bar delivery cams 58 into position where they contact two cable levers 35, 36 on the carrier. The cable levers 35, 36 are connected to cables running through the platform suspension members 18, 20. The cables are secured at their lower ends to spring-urged detent means 33 which normally prevent the platform 25 from rotating about its horizontal axis 24. On operation of both cable levers 35, 36 at the appropriate delivery station the detent means 33 are released and the platform 25 tilts to discharge its load. After discharge a counterweight restores the platform to the horizontal and it is locked into position by the spring action of the detent means. Specification 592,546 is referred to.
