Abstract
737,435. Photographic image-receptive assemblage. INTERNATIONAL POLAROID CORPORATION. Sept. 18, 1953 [Sept. 19, 1952], No. 25811/53. Class 98 (2). The assemblage comprises an image-receptive sheet having an image-receiving section separated from residual sections on opposite sides thereof by perforations extending across the sheet, and a superposed masking sheet with an opening aligned to define an image-receiving area. The masking sheet may be wider than the image-receptive sheet so as to overlap the edges thereof and a container of liquid processing composition may be attached to one of the residual sections. A superposed photo-sensitive sheet may be adapted to adhere to the assemblage when wetted by the processing composition. As shown the image-receptive sheet 20 has imagereceiving sections 26 separated from residual sections 30 by pairs of perforations 32, superposed masking sheet 34 with openings 36 is joined by a strippable bond to the image-receptive sheet 20, and processing-liquid containers 38 are fixed to masking sheet 34 in alignment with residual sections 30 by adhesive strips. 40. The various materials concerned are of the nature described in Specification 684,592 and are for the purpose of producing, in conjunction with an exposed photo-sensitive sheet, direct positive images in sections 26. In practice photo-sensitive sheet 10 with frames 16, and the assemblage with openings 36 in registration with the frames 16, are passed between rollers 44, 46, of which the former is provided with a pair of shouldered end portions 48, to rupture a container 38 and spread the processing liquid, contact of the latter with sheet 20 is, however, restricted to image-receiving area 28 by the overlapping masking sheet 34 and excess of processing liquid is retained at a trapping region adjacent to a pair of crush-resistant projections 68. After development of the negative image in frame 16 and production of the positive in area 28 the image-receiving section 26 is torn out with the aid of finger-hole 54 and perforations 56 extending thereto. To preserve continuity of the materials after removal of a section 26, residual sections 30 may be caused to adhere to the photo-sensitive sheet 10 by a pair of projections 64 extending through apertures in the masking sheet 34 or by adhesion of elements 62 to the photo-sensitive sheet. Specification 703,231 also is referred to.
