Abstract

Genins are obtained from glycosides, e.g. from Agave sisalana or Agave fourcroydes, in a process wherein the sludge obtained by the fermentation of crude saponin is treated with an alkaline earth hydroxide, e.g. milk of lime. Examples disclose the extraction of hecogenin.
